Cookie Policy

The short version: this website sets no advertising cookies and runs no advertising pixels. One small item of storage remembers whether you agreed to analytics cookies. Our always on visitor counter is cookieless. Google Analytics stays switched off until you say yes, and you can change your answer at any time.

1. What this policy covers

This policy explains the cookies and similar storage used on truestepsolutions.in, the website of Truestep Solutions. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains the wider picture of what we collect and why. It does not cover our apps. The Apex Health: Sleep & Recovery app uses no analytics, no advertising and no third party trackers at all, and its own policy is published at Apex Health: Sleep & Recovery Privacy Policy.

2. What cookies and similar storage are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Browsers offer other places to keep small pieces of information too, including localStorage and sessionStorage. They work differently from cookies, because they are never attached automatically to network requests, but they are still storage on your device, so we treat them under the same rules and describe them here.

Storage of this kind is often sorted into groups. Strictly necessary storage is needed for the site to work or to honour a choice you have made, and does not require your consent. Analytics storage helps us understand how the site is used, and on this site it is only ever set after you agree. Advertising storage is used to target or measure ads, and this site does not use it.

The site keeps one item of strictly necessary storage. When you accept or decline analytics cookies, your answer is written to your browser's localStorage under the key ts-consent-v1. It records the choice you made and when you made it, so that we do not ask you again on every page.

This entry never leaves your browser. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, it is not a cookie, and it carries no identifier that could be used to recognise you. It stays until you clear your browser storage for this site, or until we publish a new version of the consent notice, at which point the site will ask again. Because it exists only to remember a choice you made, we do not ask for consent to store it.

5. Cookieless analytics, always on

We use GoatCounter, a privacy focused analytics service, to count page views. It sets no cookies, writes nothing to your device, and does not follow you to other sites. It sees only what a normal web request already reveals, such as the page you asked for, the page that referred you and your browser type. Because it stores nothing on your device, it runs for every visitor and there is nothing to consent to or to switch off.

6. Analytics that asks first

We also use Google Analytics to understand how people move through the site. Unlike GoatCounter, it stores information on your device, so we ask before it does anything. Until you choose, it loads in a consent denied state and sets no cookies and no identifiers. If you decline, it stays that way for as long as your choice is remembered.

We use this only to see which pages are read and how people find them. We have advertising features and ad data sharing switched off. Google acts as our processor for this data and may process it outside India, including in the United States. You can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services, and you can opt out of Google Analytics in every browser you use with Google's opt out add on.

7. Other third party requests

Some files that make up this site are served by other companies. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and the animation libraries used for a few interface effects are loaded from the jsDelivr content delivery network. Neither of these sets a cookie for us and neither is used to track you.

They do, however, receive your IP address, along with your browser type and the address of the page you are viewing, because that is part of any normal web request made to fetch a file from another server. That is unavoidable whenever a page loads a resource from a third party. If you would rather not make those requests at all, a content blocking extension or a browser that blocks third party requests will stop them, and this site remains readable without them.

8. How to change or withdraw your consent

Your answer is not permanent. Every page on this site has a Cookie preferences link in the footer. Open it, choose again, and the new choice is saved to ts-consent-v1 straight away. Withdrawing consent stops Google Analytics from setting anything further from that moment. It does not delete cookies already on your device, so if you want those gone as well, clear them in your browser using the steps in the next section.

Withdrawing consent costs you nothing. The site works in exactly the same way either way, and no feature is held back because you declined.

9. How to clear or block storage in your browser

You are always in control of what your browser keeps. Every major browser lets you view the cookies and site data held for a particular site, delete them, block them for that site, or block them for all sites. The controls are usually found under privacy or site settings, and are often called cookies and site data, or site permissions.

10. Changes to this policy

If we add, remove or change what this site stores, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change means we need to ask for consent again, the consent notice will reappear and your earlier answer will not be carried over.
