Truestep Solutions is a service based software company in India. We build web and mobile products for other teams, and we publish our own our own apps. The two halves keep each other honest.
What we do
We design, build and run software: web applications, mobile apps for iOS and Android, websites on a content management system, the cloud infrastructure underneath them, and the interface design that decides whether any of it gets used. Some clients need a product built from nothing. More often they need an existing system rescued, extended or explained.
We work in small teams with direct access to the people doing the work. There is no account layer between you and the engineer who wrote the thing you are asking about.
Why we ship our own products
Most software suppliers never live with what they build. We wanted to, so we publish our own apps under our own name. The first is Apex Health: Sleep & Recovery, a free iOS and watchOS app that turns Apple Health data into a daily read on Strain, Recovery, Sleep, Stress and Energy, computed entirely on the user's own device.
It goes through App Store review like anything else. It gets support requests, edge case bugs and one star reviews. That experience is the reason we can give a client a realistic answer about what a release actually costs, rather than an optimistic one.
What we will not compromise on
Private by design
User data is not a business model. We compute on the device where the platform allows it, we collect the minimum where we cannot, and we do not sell or share personal data. Our own app uploads no health data at all, and that default carries into the work we do for clients.
One clear answer
A dashboard that shows numbers has moved the work to the reader. We push every feature until it ends in a decision somebody can act on today.
Engineered, not assembled
We choose the boring, well supported option unless there is a real reason not to, because your team has to run this after we leave.
Say the inconvenient thing
If a project should be smaller, delayed, bought instead of built, or given to a different supplier, we will say so in writing. It costs us work and earns us the next conversation.
No lock in
Mainstream tools, your cloud account, documentation written as we go. A clean handover to your own team is a normal way for an engagement to end.
Working from India
We are based in India and work with clients across time zones. In practice that means a written record of decisions rather than a reliance on everyone being awake at the same moment, a working overlap with both European and North American mornings, and rates that let a smaller team afford senior people.
It also means Indian law governs our agreements and our handling of personal data, under the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. Where clients or their users are in the EU or the UK, we handle their data in line with the GDPR as well. The detail is in our privacy policy.
How to work with us
Engagements come in three shapes: fixed scope for a defined outcome, a dedicated team when the roadmap will keep moving, and a retainer for the period after launch. All three start with a short paid discovery, because a fee quoted without a scope is a guess presented as a number. The services page sets out what each one covers.
