Scores and data
My recovery score says "Awaiting data"
The verdict is built from sleep and heart signals, especially heart rate variability recorded during sleep. Wear your Apple Watch (or a tracker that writes to Apple Health) overnight, and the score will appear after your first full night of data. No data, no number: the app never invents a score.
Health data is not showing up in the app
- Open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Privacy, then Apps, then Apex Health: Recovery Coach, and check that the categories you want are allowed.
- If you denied a category at first launch, iOS remembers the choice; you must enable it from the Health app, not from inside our app.
- New data can take a moment to arrive after opening the app while Apple Health delivers updates.
My Apex Age looks wrong
Apex Age starts from your date of birth in Apple Health and adjusts using VO2 Max, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, and daily activity. Check that your date of birth is set in the Health app and that those categories are shared. It is a transparent estimate, not a medical measurement, and it improves as more of your data is available.
How do I export or delete my data?
Export: the app can generate a clinician friendly PDF report from the Reports tools. Delete: remove individual entries in the Health app, or delete the app to remove its local storage. Details are in the Privacy Policy. We hold nothing on our side, so there is no account to close.
Meal scanning
A barcode was not found
Barcode lookups use the community run Open Food Facts database. Some products, especially regional ones, are not in it yet. You can log the meal with the camera scanner or enter it manually instead, and you can add the product to Open Food Facts to help everyone.
Meal recognition seems off
Meal scanning estimates food and portions on the device and is an approximation by nature. Good light and a clear view of the plate help. You can always adjust items and amounts after a scan, and nothing is stored from the camera, so rescanning is free of any cost.
Apple Watch and widgets
The watch app shows no data
- Make sure the watch app has Health access: on iPhone, open the Watch app, find Apex Health: Recovery Coach, and check permissions.
- The watch app runs independently, so give it a moment to read Health data after first install.
- Restarting both devices resolves most sync oddities.
Widgets are not updating
Widgets show a snapshot that refreshes when the app updates in the background. If they look stale, open the app once to refresh, and check that Background App Refresh is enabled for it in Settings. After a reinstall, add the widgets again so they connect to the fresh install.
My workout route was not recorded
Routes need location permission. Choose Always when asked, or set it in Settings under Privacy and Security, Location Services, so the route keeps recording when the screen is off. Indoor workouts have no route by design.
Notifications and reminders
I am not getting the morning verdict or reminders
All reminders are local notifications. Check Settings, Notifications, Apex Health: Recovery Coach, and make sure notifications are allowed. Focus modes and scheduled summaries can also hold them back; add the app to your allowed list in the Focus settings you use overnight.
Beta and bug reports
How do I join the TestFlight beta?
Open our TestFlight invitation on your iPhone, install Apple's TestFlight app if prompted, and tap Accept to install the beta. If spots are full, email hello@truestepsolutions.in. TestFlight builds are pre-release software and may contain rough edges.
How do I report a bug?
- Email us with the app version and build number (shown in the app's settings), your device model, and your iOS or watchOS version.
- Describe what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot or screen recording is worth a thousand words.
- On TestFlight builds you can also send feedback directly from TestFlight, which attaches the build details for you.
